2010 Awards for Excellence cast

Brent Morey of Red River Transportation accepts the 2010 Transit System & Manager of the Year Awards from Susan Coldwater, Delta Public Transit, OTA president.

OKLAHOMA CITY –Red River Transportation was named the 2010 Oklahoma Transit System of the Year by the Oklahoma Transit Association. The announcement took place during the 13th Annual OTA ‘Awards for Excellence’ banquet Tuesday evening, February 22, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Morey accepted the award from Susan Coldwater of Delta Public Transit, the OTA president.   Five transit systems were presented awards in as many categories. Recipients were selected by a panel of independent media judges.

As part and parcel of the System of the Year award, Brent Morey was also named Transit Manager of the Year.
Judges took note of Red River Transportation Red as a “complete package” scoring high in all system-of-the-year categories: promotion, community service, government affairs, safety & training, and ridership.
In April of 2010 Red River became the first non-urban, non-university system in Oklahoma to add compressed natural gas vehicles to their fleet.

Red River Transportation is based in Frederick serving 16 counties in western Oklahoma. Last year, Red River provided 247,229 trips covering 2.028 million miles.

Other 2010 OTA award recipients included:
•    Public Transit Professional of the Year: Faith Evans, Muskogee County Transit.
•    Public Transit Marketing Award: METRO Transit of Oklahoma City.
•    Public Transit Ridership & Expanded Service Award: COTS) Central Oklahoma Transit System), serving Shawnee and Pottawatomie County.
•    Public Transit Safety & Training Award: Tulsa Transit.
